🕊️ HOLY WEEK IN SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE.

🏛️ THE PRELUDE


Friday, March 27 | Friday of Sorrows


  • All Day: Installation of the traditional "Altares de Dolores" (Altars of Sorrows).

  • Where: Private homes and temples, with a special focus on the San Juan de Dios neighborhood.


🌿 PALM SUNDAY | MARCH 29


  • 06:15 h: Blessing of the palms at Templo de la Salud followed by a procession to the Oratorio.

  • 08:00 h: Blessing of the Palms and Solemn Mass at the San Francisco Temple.

  • 11:00 – 13:00 h: Solemn Masses held at both San Francisco and San Juan de Dios.

  • 18:30 h: Procession of "Señor del Triunfo" winding through the streets surrounding the Oratorio.


🕯️ HOLY MONDAY & WEDNESDAY.


  • Monday (19:30 h): Sermon & Procession of the Divine Prisoner at the Oratorio.

  • Wednesday (17:00 h): Public Stations of the Cross. This historic route begins at the San Juan de Dios Parish and moves through the city center.

  • Wednesday (20:00 h): Solemn Concert of the Seven Words featuring the Men's Choir at the Templo del Oratorio.


🍞 HOLY THURSDAY | APRIL 2


  • 15:30 h: Eucharist and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at the Santa Casa de Loreto.

  • 17:00 h: Mass of the Lord's Supper and the Washing of the Feet at San Francisco and Oratorio.

  • 18:00 to 00:00 h: ⛪ Visit of the Seven Houses. A traditional pilgrimage to seven historic temples decorated with bread, grapes, and chamomile.


✝️ GOOD FRIDAY | APRIL 3


A Day of Mourning and Reflection

  • 10:30 h: Sermon of the Encounter (Jesus Nazarene and His Holy Mother) and Stations of the Cross at the Oratorio.

  • 17:00 h: Ancient and Solemn Procession of the HOLY BURIAL. This is the city's most iconic and deeply moving event.

    • Route: Departs from the Oratorio through the main streets of the Historic Center.

  • 20:00 h: Procession of Silence and Condolences to the Virgin. Departs from the San Francisco Temple.


🕯️ HOLY SATURDAY & ☀️ EASTER SUNDAY.


  • Judas Burning: (12:00 Hrs) at San Francisco.

  • Saturday (20:00 h): Solemn Easter Vigil at San Francisco and the Oratorio. Includes the blessing of the "New Fire" and paschal candles.

  • Easter Sunday: Resurrection celebrations with Masses throughout the day at San Francisco (starting at 09:00 h) and the Oratorio (starting at 06:30 h).


🕊️ CLOSING CEREMONY


  • Wednesday, April 8: Return of the Images of the "Lord of the Column". A final procession returning the sacred images from San Juan de Dios back to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco.
